FlockMail uses Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Aurora as the primary data stores.
Amazon Aurora: All the application level data is stored in AWS Aurora. Amazon Aurora is designed to offer greater than 99.99% availability, replicates 6 copies of data across 3 Availability Zones and backs up data continuously to Amazon S3. It transparently recovers from physical storage failures and recovery from instance failover typically takes less than 30 seconds.
Amazon S3: Email content and attachments are stored in AWS Simple Storage Service (S3). S3 is an object storage service that offers industry-leading scalability, data availability, security, and performance. Amazon S3 is designed for 99.999999999% (11 9’s) of data durability because it automatically creates and stores copies of all S3 objects across multiple systems. We also do a complete backup of S3 data to another geographically separated AWS region. In the extreme event of complete data loss for primary region, all the user data can be recovered from the backup region. Emails deleted from Trash will be permanently deleted and can not be recovered.
